Kids Pareo
Our kids pareos are hand-painted Javanese batiks, made in a smaller format designed for children. Same fabric, same craft, same care as our adult pieces — simply cut to a size a child can actually wear.A beach cover-up that does not get in the wayA pareo is the easiest thing to put on a child at the beach: one rectangle of cloth, knotted at the shoulder or the waist, and it is done. Nothing to zip, nothing to pull over a wet head, nothing that stays soaked all afternoon. It dries in minutes, folds down to nothing in a bag, and works as a cover-up, a towel, a changing screen or a picnic mat.The motifs are chosen for children: geckos, turtles, elephants, fish, dragons and birds, painted in clear, bright colours. The fabricPremium viscose, soft on the skin, hand-painted in Java using the traditional batik wax-resist technique. Every piece is painted individually, so no two are exactly alike — small variations in the line and the dye are the signature of hand work, not a defect. Machine wash cold, dries very fast.See also our pareos, our mens sarongs and our wall hangings.
One knot is all it takes to dress a child: our guide shows how to tie a pareo, including a section for little ones.
